This piece was first installed in January 2006 for the group sound show, There's Nothing to See at Lobot Gallery in Oakland, California.
Dome Home is a 5 channel sound piece created with 5 microphones hung from the celling inside and around the gallery. The audio is amplified through 5 car stereo speakers inside a 5' x 5' x 6' soundproof geodesic dome that comfortably fits one person. The interior is quilted felt, beaded applique, with crocheted yarn around the speakers, and carpet.
Participants were invited to take off there shoes and intimately experience the outside happenings.
Thanks to Stuart Gordon for assisting me with the construction when I should have been having knee surgery. And thanks to Misao Sakamoto for letting me set up a sewing factory in her living room during the Christmas/New Years holiday.
